Kiwane Carrington Case.
Kiwane Carrington was a fifteen old boy who was killed October 2009 in an accident involving a Champaign police officer. Carrington’s death led to uproar from the Champaign public concerning the police department’s use of force.
In February 2011 the U.S. Department of Justice concluded its investigation into the accidental shooting of Kiwane Carrington, ruling that the evidence “did not establish a prosecutable violation of any federal criminal civil rights statute,†according to a press release.
